The “named insured” is the only one who can request changes to the policy, including, but not limited to, adding “additional insureds”. An “additional insured” is added to the policy, usually at the request of the proposed additional insured due to contractual obligations. While the additional insured is not afforded coverage under the policy, they have a right to make a claim under the policy for the actions or inactions of the named insured to which they are being exposed vicariously.
