You should always keep your own best interests in mind to protect your career and your livelihood. Even if your employer has a policy, you may not be covered if a claim is filed against you. Having your own policy ensures you have the resources you need to defend yourself and protect against claims. Further, most employer policies do not cover legal defense expense reimbursement for Board Investigations/Complaints or Non-Party Witness subpoenas for records and testimony as we do under our program.
My employer’s practice/hospital provides coverage for me, do I still need my own policy?
